Oh dear! I’m having such a miserable time! I’ve made a decision! I’m never going to try jumping up on that bed again!
I had my operation on Monday and my blue concrete wellie was exchanged for a more carbon-neutral affair – very green. I actually think the colour suited me better! It was very cumbersome though and soon started to slip. Going to the loo was extremely tricky!
That was taken off on Wednesday. The vet decided that it would be better to let some air get to my stitches but, of course, I then just wanted to nibble at them. NOT ALLOWED. Look at this stupid thing they are now making me wear. I HATE IT!!
This is to prevent me nibbling at these ………
Life is not very good for me at the moment!
I suppose things can only get better.
At least mum and dad are with me 24/7 so I must be grateful for small mercies.
Lola xx
Poor Lola, do you want to swap dogs when you go to Wales?
ReplyDeleteLovely idea Lynn but you REALLY wouldn't want Lola at the moment, she thinks she's invincible. She tried jumping up the steps ....on three legs.... I ask you, the leg had only just been pinned. What is she going to be like when it has started to mend, double back flips? Verrrrry stressful for us, nothing must happen to the leg again!
DeleteOh Lola so sorry to hear of your predicament. Hope the wound soon heals and you are back running the towpath. Those Elizabethan collars are a real bind.

Thanks for that you two, she's healing nicely but REALLY needs to keep off the leg, easier to say than enforce! A muzzle is working much better than the lampshade. Back to the vets today for a check up.
DeleteThose collars are a nightmare at the best of times. On a narra.........!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe swapped the collar for a plastic 'cage' type muzzle when we had that predicament - it seemed much less stressful for the dog than constantly crashing into the fixtures and fittings. Poor, poor Lola
Thanks for that Jill, we got one Saturday, needed a few cable ties to completely stop the tounge & those wicked front teeth from getting to the stitches but it now works brill, much better than the lampshade. Thanks for the tip.
DeletePoor Lola - Ozzy sents big licks and a woof or two. I'm sure he'd nibble Lola's stitches for her seeing as she's not allowed! Haha, he won't be laughing next week, he'll have a 'lampshade' as well - he's going for an op to remove his non-appearing gonads on Monday - he'll have his own itchy stitches to contend with!
ReplyDeletePip & Rog
Oh poor Ozzy, "non-appearing gonads", you poor boy, all the best for Monday. I'm sure Lola would return the favour re itchy stitches but I probably shouldn't go there, or at least, Lola shouldn't! Jills comment re muzzle or lampshade, spot on, much better all round. Thanks Jill.
DeleteOh, Lola, my dear! If it helps, when I broke my upper leg (read: wrist for all you humans), I had a very attractive cast in the exact same color you do. It WILL get better!
